From Delhi, India, to your ears. Finally understand your true meaning on this Earth.
Spectral digidub from Delhi, India, sounding something like Tapes, RZA and William Orbit having a merry old steppers jolly.
More 16-bit than 8-bit and nicely distorted to boot, the vibe is distinctly smoked-out and heady, veering from purist digidub to a halfstepping lurch, with added distorted tabla making Ravana’s locale more immediately obvious.
The album’s strongest bits are more overtly classical in influence, such as on the screwed rhythms and vocal incantations of ‘Culture Shock’ nicely offset against almost Michael O'Shea-style sitar flourishes, while the closing ‘Samadhi’ switches to a hip hop template, with results that sound like RZA’s ‘Ghost Dog’ distotrting tae fuck on a killasan sounsystem.
